Our means of communication have become intelligent, and now our means of travel have done the same. To that end, Subaru offers the Starlink Connected Services System, which is available across Canada. It is one of Subaru's technologies that allow you to stay connected with the world around you while driving in the Greater Montreal Area.
Starlink's operation is based on the use of a wireless network that connects to your car through Apple CarPlay® or Android® Auto. Subaru Canada also specifies that "wireless pairing and hands-free calling [...] allows you to connect securely and easily to your favourite applications and content without having to interrupt your driving. You also have access to music, news, navigation, podcasts and more. In this way, your Subaru gives you access to a wealth of multimedia while you're on the road.
In addition to its audio-visual infotainment system, the Starlink system also gives you access to its Connected Services. Through the Starlink Subaru and MySubaru applications, you can remotely start your car, monitor its temperature and lock and unlock the doors. You can also locate your car when you forget where you parked it. Other options are available including programming traffic alerts and obtaining vehicle health reports, maintenance information and diagnostics.
Starlink Services also include safety, security and maintenance components. The first component automatically sends a collision notification to a Starlink agent (who can geolocate you to send help) when an accident occurs, no matter where you are in Quebec. The second component includes a security alarm notification and a stolen vehicle recovery service with an immobilizer. Finally, the third component, known as Concierge, is the equivalent of a personal assistant who is always at your disposal while driving and who is connected to a call center.
In short, the Starlink Connected Services system gives you access to multimedia content in addition to keeping an eye on you and your car. It is available on the 2020 Outback, 2020 Forester, 2020 Legacy, 2020 Impreza and 2020 Crosstrek, and it's sure to be on more models in the future.
